ACRG was formed as a political action committee by Acme citizens prior to the Election in 2004. This group worked successfully for the election of an entire new township board, the first and only time this has occurred in the state of Michigan.

Since that time these board members worked to uphold the Master Plan designed by township residents. 

In February 2007 these same board members successfully fought a recall with the support of Acme Citizens for Responsible Growth.

Those elected in 2004 and still serving are candidates in the upcoming election. Linda Wikle, planning commissioner, is candidate for township Treasurer.
